Various reconstructive procedures can be done without large abdominal incisions with laparoscopic techniques. The most common operation is Laparoscopic pyeloplasty for UPJ obstruction - a birth defect in drainage of urine from kidney to ureter. The laparoscopic operation has proven itself in achieving same success as with open surgery and has largely replaced open surgery. We have performed about 150 such operation with 2 partial failures, needing an additional small procedure. Of late, we have even stopped putting stent in such operations.
Less common reconstructive operations are ureteric reimplantation of ureter and Boari flap reconstruction of lower ureteric loss due to disease or injury.
Repair of vesicovaginal fistula is done increasingly by laparoscopic approach.and offers great success and patient satisfaction.
All these operation are being done regularly, more so pyeloplasty, at
