The minimal access surgery or laparoscopic surgery achieves the same therapeutic goal as the traditional open surgery does. The difference is that there is no large cut for accessing the target organ for its removal or correction of pathology. It clearly scores over open surgery due its precision, causing minimal blood loss ( one tenth of open surgery), and completeness esp. in cancer surgery.
